GWC ARTICLES ARCHIVEOver the years there have been many fascinating articles written by supporters and entrants in the GWC. Over the next few months we will publish a selection of these here. If you have an article which you think would be of interest please email it to us and we will consider it for publication. GWC 2004 – My Own Personal Challenge GWC enthusiast Paul White from Womersley recounts (with photos) a hard but satisfying experience on the 25 mile walk, grateful for the company of friends as he struggled with fitness on the day. Paul has now completed eleven Challenges, and is one of our best fundraisers. ** Multi-GWC winner Alec Keith looks forward to his 19th Great Wilderness Challenge in 2014, recalling incidents and special moments – good and not-so - from his long association with Poolewe and the Challenge. ** A Challenge Within A Challenge GWC’s overall top fundraiser Iain Bartholomew describes what motivates him to take part in the Challenge and how he raises such copious amounts for our charities each year ** An entertaining account of the exploits of a team from Cadogans, Glasgow taking part in their first GWC in 2012 ** Fiona Findlay from Perthshire recalls some of her favourite GWC memories down the years ** The Return of the Cadogans Grouse Beaters The continuing story of the Cadogans team on their return to Poolewe in 2013 ** Just one example of the dedicated effort made in the background to ensure the GWC show goes ahead in relative safety each year. We call this the 'Unseen Challenge', where volunteers give freely of their time and energy in a common cause.
