Departed Friends
08 April 2021

Sadly four of our best supporters have passed away in recent months. All four were dedicated to the Challenge and we gratefully acknowledge their selfless contributions to the event over many years. We will miss them all, and take this opportunity to convey our sincere condolences to their families and friends.

Rachel Urquhart (Poolewe). Rachel was with us from the start in 1986 and was responsible for provision of First Aid equipment for the event. She served as a marshal at Carnmore checkpoint for many years, and also travelled with us on our changed locations at Flowerdale Forest, Ullapool and Kintail.

Kenny Morrison (Gairloch). Also in from the start, Kenny’s company became a main sponsor of the event down the years, providing essential foodstuffs for the catering department. In addition he participated in the 25 mile walk on many occasions, raising significant sponsorship in the process.

Morris Knight (Aultbea). Although only with us for the four most recent events, octogenarian Morris immediately grasped the spirit of the Challenge, undertaking the limited mobility walks with great enthusiasm. Remarkably, in that short time, he managed to raise over £6000 for the charity.

Jackie Maclennan (Inverness) Jackie, like Rachel (above) was one of the original 1986 marshals at Carnmore checkpoint. and served the Challenge loyally for 31 consecutive years, including our three changed location venues. Several of Jackie's siblings also take part in the event on a regular basis.
