We are saddened to announce the recent passing of Kenny Mackenzie from Maryburgh. Although completely unknown to any of us, Kenny and friends got in touch to volunteer to help at the first Challenge in 1986. Delighted by this surprise offer, we delegated them to Carnmore checkpoint. And for over 30 successive years what became known as “Kenny’s Kitchen” became an iconic stop for thousands of hungry/thirsty walkers and runners over the years. Kenny and his team also marshalled at our “away days” at Flowerdale Forest, Ullapool and Kintail. Sadly missed, but happy memories abide.
